Proposal of quota for poorer section was mentioned in every party’s manifesto: Union minister Thawar Chand Gehlot
“A lot of members are opposing the bill, saying it is not practical enough to be implemented. However, the proposal of quota for poorer section was mentioned in every party’s manifesto. ‘If quota bill was brought 3 months ago, Oppn would still have said that it is for elections’: Amar Singh
“I want to ask those opposing the bill, shouldn’t vote, why are they voting? If the government would have brought the bill 3 months ago, the Opposition would have said it’s for state assembly election. When the government is bringing it now, they are saying that it is for Lok Sabha polls,” said Amar Singh.
BJP natonal president Amit Shah thanked all the members of the Rajya Sabha who helped in passing the bill to introduce 10% quota for poorer sections.
